Hello guys,
it was about time to share my newest creation. I painted this for Brent Meyer who wanted her to be based on Alice Cullen as she can be seen in the movie Twilight. So he sent me photos of Ashley Greene that I used as reference, but I put my own style into it to retain copyright, too. This version is closely finished, but if you see anything that could make it better, please don't hesitate to write a helpful Advanced Cirtique for this one. Since it will hang big on Brent's wall we'll both be happy to have it as flawless as possible! *hugs* -Anne Edit: Thanks to you all for helping me! I worked the painting over very carefully and managed to paint a much better hand. (And some other improvements.) Awesome!! Oh and: Print enabled. But this is a special one fo Brent, this is why it's tagged for him. If you want to have one without the tag you'll have to wait till late August. Comments
Wow, really beautiful piece! If you're looking to be super anal-retentive, I did notice two things. The sky seems to have a sharp line and almost too much saturation by her left arm (our right). The other thing I notice is that the fingernail on her left ring finger seems to be a different tone than the others, though that may be deliberate.

There are a few little things that did catch my attention. Her thumb looks a little bit sketchy and seems to go at an odd curve near the nail which makes it look smaller. Under the fingers which are placed on the skin of her chest, there should be some shadows to represent that they are there. For when you press on your skin, even slightly, with your fingers there will be a little shadow where the indentation is.
You did a marvelous job with the placing of the necklace and the detail of the earrings and bodice.
However on the left side of her, on her arms, the first arm band seems a bit sloppy. On the farthest side when it starts to go off the page it seems to have an indentation where there shouldn't be one. It should stay round and consistent. The lines on the band seem a bit out of perspective. They too should be rounded rather then skewed.
The lower arm band though is perfectly in perspective, well done.
Other than the shadows of the fingers, the thumb and the arm band, I see absolutely nothing wrong with this.
You did the face and hair flawlessly.
This is just breathtaking.
There are, however, two things that fixed could make this artwork even better.
First what comes to my mind is that her shoulders are a bit too narrow, her left shoulder especially. I understand the angle, still her left shoulder should be a bit longer. Just a bit to keep proportion. I dislike her hand, it lacks flow which could be present when you keep your hand like this. Traditional old masters were painting hands like this but that was just the way they presented them, in today era, and especially when you're not going for stylisation but for realism the hand should be more thin in fingers, also her wrist is too fat. Overall the hand looks as if it had no bones.
Despite these two things I really love this portrait. It immediately caught my eye and what is important - it is recognizable as your painting at first glance - your style is clearly seen.
Keep it up, Anne, you're doing fabulous job ^_^
