And another UPDATE: The girl is going to be featured in at least one new publication and so I reworked her feet a bit because some people thought she was walking actually. Which she is NOT. She is FLOATING! ;)
The print has also been updated ;)

UPDATE: Since this painting is gonna be part of an exhibition, as it seems, I reworked some parts of it to make it look more suitable, so to speak :) Print will be updated as well.

This is meant as the opposite of "Doom".

First of all I have to say that I worked very very long on that face. I finally wanted her design to be done and I saw that I should learn from some "old masters" now. That's why I took my books and looked for artists I'd like the most. One book was featuring french masters and I picked Fragonard and Bougereau as my favorites to learn from.
Influences can be seen here, because I just love their way of painting backgrounds and floating dresses.
I also started to make her costume for real.

BTW, meet my elephant Bodo. He will replace my signature from now on since I desperatly fell in love with him.

thats really impressive. Both the figure and the background are done fantastically but they don't actually seem to be reacting with one another, what I mean to say is that she looks as though she has just been placed atop the background, rather than actually being among it. this is most noticeable around the feet.

Despite the skyscrapers in the background, and the somewhat modern fashion, it definitely has the feel of a classical painting.

Bodo is a cool guy...er, elephant.

That is incredible. Her face has so much detail, it's simply amazing. I can't really stop staring at it.

All in all, this picture looks so perfect. Wow.
