Raaa Raa Virus Alert!

So I get up early today, have some nice breakfest, get to check my msg center and am happy that once again a bunch of notes has found it's way to me.
But instead of asking me for new commissions [link] I get spamed with this annoying virus warning again.
I want money, not spam!
How could somebody believe to something so dumb anyways? Do you people even read the msg before passing it on?

It starts the following:

"If someone by the name of
Im_A_Fool_And_Want_To_Annoy_Everyone_By_Spreading_Hoaxes wants to add you to their buddy list,"
Buddy list on DA pretty much means watchlist... so do I now have to browse all my watchers to find this person...? With around 4,500 people on it, this might take a while. Let's read on first!

"don't accept it."
How can I "forbid" anyone to add me to his watchlist anyways? Did that awesomely new feature pass me?

"It's a virus."
Awesome!
Viruses spreaded over DA's useraccounts, oh my God, why isn't the site down yet? I bet they're all part of a spambot web already, which will hack my hd and steal all my pr0n. Narf!

"Please tell everyone on your lists,"
e.g. spam everyone with unnecessary bs.

"because if someone on your list adds them, you may get the virus too."
This is the best joke I've EVER heard. srsly. New features again that I missed or something?! How should this work?!?!

"This virus is a hard-drive killer. We need to find out who is using this account."
Yeah by reading that, my hd has been killed around 4,500 times already, because I never got a msg asking me if I wished to accept person xyz to watch me! Damn!

"(I'm annoying, blahblahblah)"
Aaaaaah!

BEFORE you keep spaming this around, READ damn it, READ! How should this kind of "virus" work? I bet someone's having a good laugh at how DA is growing into panic again and people who got a bit more guys on their watchlist get spamed to death because of it.
Use the time you are wasting to spread this spam around to tell people, that you LOVE them instead!
You'll all gonna have so much fun!
(And it's still too early in the morning for me. XD)


PPPPPPPPPSSSSSS:
The person that was supposed to spread this "virus" has been banned from DA PERMANENTLY [link] by the way so HOW SHOULD it spread anything at all?!

There are so many people on DA that have no clue how things actually work. There are no executables passed around and you aren't going to pick up a trojan on the site, either. I got a good laugh over that last one that lead you off site to steal your account and pass...ok now *that* was a pure test of computer literacy. I laughed at some of that names that were floating around on that prank. But, yeah...there's some guy laughing his ass off watching all the time wasted with this one for sure. I haven't gotten this spam yet, but then again I have about 1/450th the watchers you do....but I guess they are pretty smart. :)

Problem is imho that no matter how many times those people read this sort of thing they don't have enough knowledge to realise it's a hoax, so in their good hearted ignorance they spam everyone they know.
I'm not famous on DA so I don't have that sort of problem here but I have it in my e-mail box everyday and it annoys the hell out of me!

I can, sadly, identify with your pain, since I woke up today to receive my first batch of these emails. And although you can refuse someone from adding you to their watchlist (block them ;)), this is still a stupid note.

I'll have to make such a journal myself soon, because frankly, this is getting too annoying.

I think that spammer's "buddylist" word is referring to y!m, MSN, AIM, or similar chat programs-- not dA

Because I think we can't "reject" people who watches us like we do in those chat programs or site like facebook/myspace.
Although we can block them :shrug:

Perhaps you should better safeguard the pr0n with messages like this about. Though since DA doesn't have actual "buddy lists" I'm unsure why anyone would spam this out, just what are they worried about? The second I have to sit down and translate terms I know the author has no idea what they're talking about anyway.

Kinda like those emails from "Africa" asking you to give them a bank account to save their money :)

Good hearted ignorance... yup. Good choice of words :D

I can't help but admire the smart social engineering going on in some of those hoaxes and chain mails though ;)

:D I'm particularly fond of Mrs. Whatever, wife of the late Mr. Something, president of Nigeria who wants to get some money out of the country and chose me of all people! My day isn't complete if I don't get at least 5 of those, but the sad thing is, once in a while people actually fall for it, how do you expect them not to fall for something like a virus threat? *sigh*
